A simple summer AC maintenance checklist
A short, honest guide based on what we actually see on service visits across the Gundugolanu belt.
Why this matters here
Rural conditions are harder on appliances than showroom conditions: dust, hard water, long summers and unstable voltage. Most failures we attend are not manufacturing defects — they are the slow result of those four things going unmanaged.
What we see on visits
- Small maintenance skipped for years, then one expensive failure
- Blind “gas top-ups” done without finding the actual leak
- Hard-water scaling quietly destroying heaters and drums
- No stabiliser or surge protection on high-value appliances
What to do instead
Clean what is accessible on a schedule, protect the appliance electrically, and treat any new noise, smell or error code as information rather than something to ignore. When a repair is needed, insist on a diagnosis and an upfront quote before work begins — that alone prevents most overbilling.
Our rule of thumb
If a repair costs less than a third of a comparable new appliance and the body is sound, repair it. Above that, we tell you honestly that replacement is the better use of your money.
When to call a technician
Any sealed refrigeration work, any gas handling, any control-board fault and any water-plus-electricity situation should be handled by someone with gauges, a meter and accountability. That is exactly what a doorstep visit is for.
